Your skin undertone will not only tell you what shades of makeup that will flatter you the most, but can also reveal a whole range of colors that will compliment you. Have the palette in mind when choosing clothing, shoes and accessories, to make them match you effortlessly.
Your undertone can tell a lot about which colors that will compliment you the most, and which makeup that will suit you. Your undertone can be either cool(pink, red, blue), warm(yellow, golden) or neutral (a mix of cool and warm undertones). There’s a few ways to find your undertone;
1) Looking at your veins
Start out by looking at your veins on your wrist. If they look blue, you have a cool undertone, if they look green, you have a warm undertone. If you can’t tell, then you most likely have a neutral undertone.
2) Silver/Gold test
If you have access to both some silver and gold jewelry, you can try out the silver/gold method. Take as much silver bling next to your face as you can. Take a selfie and now do the same thing, with as many gold accessories as you can find. Which one looks the best on you? If gold looks the best on you, you have a warm undertone. If silver looks the best, you have a cool undertone. If you can’t tell, then you most likely have a neutral undertone (if you have your natural hair color you can also try holding your gold and silver accessories next to your hair, to see what suits you best).
3) Your eye and hair color
Your natural eye and hair color can sometimes help determine your undertone. Many women with cool undertones have blue, grey or green eyes with blond, brown or black hair. Many women with warm undertones have brown, amber or hazel eyes, with strawberry blond, red, brown or black hair. If you’re not in a direct category, then you’re most likely neutral.
4) Tan or burn
If you tan easily when being out in the sun, then you most likely have a warm undertone. If you get pink/red or burn easily, then you might have a cool undertone. If you can’t relate to any of these scenarios, you might have a neutral undertone.
5) Mirror test
Stand in front of a mirror. Cover your hair with a white towel. Cover as much of your surroundings with white towels, for example covering things in the background, clothing etc. This will make your skin color pop, and make it easier to determine your undertone. Does your skin appear blue, yellow or green? If blue, then you have a cool undertone. If yellow, then you have a warm undertone. If green, then you most likely have a neutral undertone.
